Title: Psico-sociocultural variables and the connative meaning of "quality" in higher education.
Author: Moreno-Cedillos, A; Diaz-Guerrero, R
Abstract: Using a sample of 106 professors from institutions of higher education on agriculture, selected from the highest and lowest ends in institutional quality, an operational definition of quality of higher education was developed. "Quality" was considered to be the result of the interaction of multiple variables. Structural models of the concept of quality differed in general structure among the groups. The structural models of the assessed psychological variables are presented: personality (self-concept, achievement, locus of control, and assertiveness), cognition (intelligence and cognitive styles) and psycho-socio-culture (PHSC and life phylosophy) of the professors. The sample is comparable to similar samples in the country; thus, inferences can be drawn on the mexican higher education population.
